SYMPH♡NY-The worlds most wanted band.

symphony has become one of the worlds most loved bands. They’re iconic, they’ve made history and made it all look so easy. How have they done it? Was it really that easy?

On Saturday night symphony put on a show; but it wasn't just any show; it was a performance; a performance of their third album: Remember when?; soon to be a global sensation.

Fans noticed a change in symphony’s typical performance as the band changed their usual pop-rock music into something slower and softer. The usual upbeat tone had disappeared as they sung their newest single ‘summer nights’. Although we’ve all heard this slow song on the radio; none of us had heard it live; until Saturday night. Symphony had the whole crowd in tears as they sang ‘summer nights’ to the audience. Due to all the support, the band just watched their fans take over their role, leaving both the fans and symphony in tears, showing support in a way no-one had seen before.

“It was amazing, seeing how much our fans care for us, it really helps us remember why we started doing what we do in the first place” says lead singer, Noah Riley. The bands drummer told us “We’ve been playing together for years now and we’re still experiencing new feelings. This is why I never want to stop playing, especially with the people I love”-Iris Jones.

As the band comes up to their sixth-year anniversary, they have unlocked new levels of fame and stardom. Only two years ago the band began to rise to fame after their second UK tour. Soon after, Symphony went on their first world tour and sold arenas out in just minutes. “That moment when we first realised we sold out…that was the moment we realised we meant something to people”- Atlas Smith the band's bass player stated. Now Symphony has moved on to bigger and better tours; selling out stadiums; all over the globe; in just seconds.

As the band begins to prepare for their third world tour, Symphony’s latest single ‘summer nights’ will unleash a whole new territory for the band as they enter a new genre they haven’t explored yet. Symphony’s newest single gives us a slight glance into what their new album may hold. Fans have said they couldn’t be more excited but nervous too as they anticipate the new album ‘Remember when?’. Luckily, the band's lead guitarist Ryan Cater eased their nerves, saying “don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too long.”

Whilst Symphony is everywhere in 2022, right now the band are sitting with me in their favourite cafe in their hometown of York. As many of you may know, the band met in their first year of secondary school, and they’ve been together ever since. They started to rise to fame in their final compulsory year of secondary school, year eleven. But how did their classmates react? “Well, they all knew we were a band, they had to listen to us at almost all our social events at school” says Iris Jones. “They didn’t really care what was happening outside of school, don’t get me wrong they supported us, but they didn’t think we’d go anywhere with our music” states Ryan Carter. However, Atlas Smith said “Our year only realised that we’d been noticed when our head teacher announced it in front our whole school…that has to be the most embarrassed we’ve ever been”. Symphony said that they all decided to finish their final year of school before going on tour as they wanted something to fall back on in case anything went wrong.

As Symphony first began to ‘blow up’ they gained around 5000 new followers a day. The band stated that it was very exciting but also scary. “We didn’t think it was real at first, we didn’t know what to do. After a week of new people constantly following us online, we got pulled out of our classes by our headteacher…that’s when we knew it was real…it was surreal” says Noah Riley.

As the band thought back to their time in secondary school, they remembered how gaining fame at such a young age affected them and how they dealt with it. Noah, Iris, Ryan and Atlas, all said it was difficult to juggle both music and school, but it was an easy decision for them to continue with both. “We just felt as though we should finish year 11 before focusing fully on music otherwise everything, we worked for would have been wasted”-Iris Jones. All members of symphony also stated it was difficult dealing with so much attention all at once. “We couldn’t get a moment alone; they followed us everywhere…we were only sixteen…that wasn’t fair”-Atlas Smith. Symphony’s drummer said it was really damaging to their mental health, each member suffered in a different way. However, they wanted to carry on touring and posting for their then recently gained followers. “To be honest, our fans were the only thing that kept me going on our first world tour, this was before we realised we could take a break away for social media and our fans would still be there for us when we came back”-The band's lead guitarist stated. The band expressed how difficult it was to appreciate everything that had happened to them when they first gained their fame. “It was hard to realise how lucky we were, we were all struggling mentally…it even affected how we performed and interacted with our fans”-Ryan Carter.

As of 2022, Symphony have won the hearts of millions, they’ve helped fans discover who they really are, but who are symphony? Well from what I’ve learnt today Symphony are a generous and loving band, family even. Although they may come across as intimidating, their caring personalities shine through the moment you say ‘hello’. The band genuinely cares for each other as well as their fans. They’ve donated millions to various different charities helping many different causes. How could you not love this band?

Symphony have not stopped thinking about the new album and whether their fans will enjoy it. As we know this album will be slightly different from what we are used to. But is it a bad thing? I don’t think so. Symphony have just found a way to completely take over the world and win the hearts of millions more. The music artists have told me they’re “so excited” for their fans to hear the music they’ve been working on for the past year and a half. However, they have revealed that this is nerve wracking for them as the album is completely different to what they normally release. “I think it’s my favourite album we’ve ever created”-Iris Jones. Clearly the band have strong feelings attached to ‘Remember when?’ as they’ve suggested to me that this album will be about how growing up was to them and all the memories they’ve made together. All I can say is that it’s going to be emotional. Fans will be in tears listening to the band's favourite memories and hardest moments.

Symphony is due to play in the O2 arena later today. Ready to play their album ‘Remember when?’ live for the first time ever. Fans will queue and crowd the venue hours before the show starts, ready to listen to the band's favourite album; the band's memories; their heartbreaks; their pain. After the show Symphony’s fans will linger; covered in confetti; tear stains on their cheeks; waiting to catch a glimpse of the worlds most wanted band. Symphony.
